Why Today Rocked

Reasons why I knew today would rock before I even left the house
  1. I didn't oversleep for the first time in uhhh...3 weeks.
  2. I had a really cute outfit picked out.
  3. When I opened my bedroom door, I smelled pancakes. (Let it be known that this was the highlight of my awesome morning)
  4. First time in 7 school days that we didn't have to be there early. So we got to leave at 7:35.
  5. Because I had so much time on my hands, I decided to straighten my hair. So I got to play with it all day.
  6. It felt like fall outside.
  7. My carpool and I were all unintentionally color cordinating...in blue and yellow. The most superior of all color combinations.
Love y'all, mean it.

La rentrée

Like my clever French title? It means, the return, aka school restarting. For any of you real French speakers/enthusiasts out there, there's a small possibility I might be incorrect my spelling so don't judge. Although J'adore français, I couldn't pass off as a legit Parisian ever. Nor could I probably pass off as someone who's taken French for 6 years...oh wait, that last one is true. My life is a joke.

Actually I take that back. My life is where it's at right now for many reasons...
1)It's almost fall. Around 5 or 6 oclock, the sun is starting to give off that fall afternoon lighting that I'm absolutely obsessed with. But unsurprisingly, it's still an average of 90 degrees in Alabama.

2) FOOTBALL SEASON. IT'S HERE! IT'S HERE! IT'S HERE! #ihavenolife #dontcare. Jamboree was last friday night (see photo below) and our first regular season game is Friday at Shades Valley. The dress up day is "School Shades Valley"...nerd day. And as usual I am resorting to bribery, threats, and force to insure school spirit and to get people to dress up.

3)My schedule is ballin. My first 4 classes are my "hard" classes; first is AP English, where I'm not taking the AP test so I'm simply enjoying the class (taking a class for the joy of learning instead of for passing a standardized test? What a novel idea!). second is AP French which I've had the same class in since 7th grade and we have more inside jokes than majority of my friends. Third is precal...shoot me in the foot. But I'm obsessed with teacher so maybe I'll survive. Fourth AP Gov/Econ. Meh. Then after 4th I do absolutely nothing. Fifth is free with literally all my friends. Sixth I'm a teachers aid for my cheer coach in her Adv. History class (10th grade)...two of my favorite things ever, history and cheerleading. Seventh is marine science and that alone should tell you that I'm a senior and I do what I want.

4) I love my friends to death, which isn't unusual.
These are my friends. And we throw up deuces like it's nobodys business.

I also went to Alabama and Auburn bid days and it hit me that that's me in a year. Gulp. Annnnnddd cue pretending like it's not happening.

This is Julia. Julia goes to college so I don't get to see her that much, which sucks. Julia, on the other hand, does not suck.

I probably shouldn't fail to mention that I might have already lost my english binder and text book. Claps for yours truly. I also think I might have a concussion right now from banging heads with 3 different people in 2 days of cheerleading practice. Oh and don't forget how I managed to get myself front and center for the senior panoramic picture...and when I say front and center, I literally mean I am on the front row of my entire grade dead center.

And I've also asked my final date to the ball, and yes, we ask for a ball in January the first week in August. Total Mountain Brook Move. Let me give you a mental picture on how the asking went down...I casually walked up to target date and friend of target date and started a quicky convo at my locker. When target date started to leave, I calmly said, "Hey (target date)! Quick question...want to go to the ball with me?" Target date then replys, "Yeah sure!" (duh he does, I mean I am the most sought after date in the entire flippin school. #whyamisingle) and "target date" becomes "date". We then proceed to high five...a high five that I unashamedly initiated. Then friend of date jumps on high alert at the word "ball" and yells, "Did you just ask him to the ball?!" Well obivously, friend of date. Friend of date then yells to other friend of date who happens to be one of the loudest people I know, "HEY ALLISON JUST ASKED (DATE) TO THE BALL!". Overly loud friend of date then proceeds to yell to the entire mall, "WOOOOO ALLISON JUST ASKED (DATE) TO THE BALL." Everyone within a 50ft radius then proceeds to cheer and yell for us as I try to shove myself inside my locker. Meanwhile, other friend (we'll call her "Softball") bursts into tears of laughter...or tears of joy. Whatever way you chose to view the situation. Only in my world does stuff go down like this.

Peace. Love. SENIO12S.

Baking for Dummies

So this summer as one of my hobbies, I've taken up baking...
This is what the strawberry cupcake was supposed to look like:

Annnnndddd this is mine.
If you look past the flat, but chunky icing and burned edges on the cupcake, they weren't that bad. Yes I know that means that 60% of the cupcake failed and yes I did take that picture with hipstamatic to make it look slightly better.

Why do I rock at everything?

Allison Applies to College...Maybe

It all started one day. One day I was checking my twitter and I started to see the occasional tweet that would say, "Just sent in my application. Roll tide!" or "Officially Bama bound...RTR." Then I started to think, "Allison, is it time for you to apply for college? Wait that can't be possible...you're just a sophomore." And then it hit me. I am not a sophomore. I am not a junior. I, Allison Leigh Ingram, the same girl who got bread stuck on the wrong side of a pan last night, am a senior. Gulp. All you blog readers have been reading about it for months, my looming senior year, and now, it's upon us.

So here's the question, do I go ahead and send in a application to Bama? Well I thought this last night so my answer was why the hey not. Then I got to the first "step in the process"...look at majors. I am now taking suggestions on what to be when I grow up so if anyone has the faintest idea of something that I can do that doesn't involve blood, lots of math, or entertaining small children everyday, please shoot me a text/email/message/Pinterest repin telling me what to do with the rest of my life.

We have officially one week left until school starts and I hate to say it, but I am SO PSYCHED about school starting back! I just like routine and I like seeing all of my friends regularly...sue me. Plus I did what I had been saying I would do for 5 years and that was completeting my summer reading before August and not procrastinating it off. So I am so very proud to say that I finished Beowulf, Grendel, Murder In the Cathedral, along with all of their reports, AND all of my AP French homework with 2 weeks left in the summer. Get up Mountain Brook. This means I get to spend my last couple of days doing what I want which usually means getting on Pinterest or baking.

The only bad part of this time of year if you don't count school starting back is when friends leave and go to college. I had to say goodbye to Juje last Thursday (check out her blog if you can find it. I tried to find it and link something for the first time ever, but once again, I failed miserably). Even though she goes to school 45 minutes away at Alabama ROLL TIDE ALL DAY and I see her frequently during football season especially, it's still not very fun. And like my sunburn and any other inconveniences in my life, I treat this issue by pretending it's not happening. My life is Allison.

Speaking of football season...we literally have 1 week until Spartan football season kicks off. Meaning tailgates, dress up days, pep rallies, pre-game meals, after game parties, cold weather, excessive cheerleading pictures, and lots and lot of good food. Pray pray pray that we have a good team this year and it doesn't rain frequently. And yes that is probably a selfish prayer because I want a fun senior year, but who doesn't want their football team to kick butt/make it to Bryant Denny Stadium for the state championship so Allison can fulfill her life long dream before she throws in her pom poms?

Green and gold forever, y'all.

Signs of the Coming Age (School Re-starting, I mean)

So, blogging world, here's an update on the last couple weeks of my fabulous summer...
- I am sunburned yet again. Even though this is only twice this year (claps for Allison), I'm still slightly exasperated that I got myself in this situation. My theory on healing sunburn is that if you deny and/or ignore it's presence, it goes away faster. So hello, I'm Allison Ingram and I'm not sunburned and I'm insulted that you would even consider me to be so careless to get sunburned or to not realize that I will never be tan.
- I have cheerleading pictures tomorrow and I'm positive that my imaginary sunburn will really pop with my green and gold uniform.
- I am officially home for the summer! Beach trip number four just ended and I am more than slightly relieved to be HOME and not on the go everywhere.
- This next week I am going through my LAST registration. No flippin' way y'all. Fingers crossed that I get a good locker, parking spot (anything will be better than the access road), and all the run through signs turn out beautiful.
- As I cope with my sunburn, I'm also coping with the fact that I am about to have to experience a lot of "lasts". And of course I deal with both in the same way, pretend like it's not happening. Solid life choices.
- I'm finishing up summer reading/AP French homework. Yes, you heard right, I finished all of the actual reading of books in July and all I have left is the review sheets. Sup over achiever.
-After one more week of craziness, all the Ingrams will be home from camp and business and various escapades. *wipe the brow*
- I am currently re-doing my room and due to my chronic inability to make a decision, this could be a long process.
- Sign painting this week. 10 run throughs, 2 days; bring it on.

Lame blog post, I know, but I meant well. To the moon and back,
Ali
